7 Reasons Northeastern is a Great Fit for

Active Duty and Veterans

Student Veterans

Did you know?

We estimate
we've enrolled more than 600 veterans since 2009.

We understand the needs of veterans and active duty personnel. At Northeastern, you can get credit for military service, complete your degree online or on-campus, and access support services like tutoring, networking, job connections and more.

Given our range of veteran services, it's no surprise we have been named a military friendly school for the last 5 consecutive years.

Here are seven ways we strive to support our military students.

1. Student Veterans Organization

Northeastern's Student Veterans Organization  brings veterans together on campus and helps them find needed resources and develop camaraderie through involvement in community engagement, volunteering, events and other activities. Meet up in the student veterans lounge, join an advocacy group, or participate in programs like the Huskies for Heroes team to raise funds for veterans.

Our student veteran's organization was named Chapter of the Year in 2013.

 Military Training2. Physical/Emotional Support

You can receive routine care or participate in ongoing support groups for issues like the transition to college, grief counseling or PTSD through University Health and Counseling.

3. Support for Academics

If you'd like academic support, we offer tutoring and support services through both the Disabilities Resource Center and the Learning Disabilities Program. Each college also has its own academic tutoring program.

4. Military Transfer Credit

We recognize that your training and work in the military are valuable learning experiences. As a veteran, you can apply your military work towards your degree.

5. "We Care" ProgramMilitary Veterans

Get access to everything you need through the We Care program. The program meets the specific needs of veterans including information about tutoring, navigating university policies and offices, assistance with academic issues and dealing with any unexpected challenges that arise during the term.

6. Student Financial Services

With a dedicated department just for veterans issues, Student Financial Services can help you navigate applying your GI Bill Benefits. (Read more: 10 Steps to Applying your GI Bill Benefits.)

7. Career Services

View sample resumes, professional associations for veterans, get networking help, and more. Recently ranked #1 in the country, Career Services connects veterans with companies and organizations that are veteran friendly.
